Central Park

Oh, how I love Central Park. It is truly a refuge in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the big city. It's location, surrounded by mile after mile of skyscrapers and concrete, makes it all the more special.

We made two visits to the park during our five-day trip to New York. It was refreshing to stroll beneath the trees, hear the birds sing and breathe the fresh, smog-free air.

The boy, who is a country boy at heart, was immediately taken with the park. He would have been happy to explore all 843 acres if given the chance.

The hubby and I practically had to drag him away from the lakes. He could have spent hours peering into the water in search of turtles or the illusive giant Koi we saw swimming around.

My favorite spot in Central Park is the Mall. The way the tree branches form a perfect canopy... It is nothing short of magical.

I could literally spend hours, plopped on one of the benches, just people watching or enjoying a good book.

And the bridges... Did I mention how much I loved all of the bridges? No two in the park are alike. They are truly beautiful.

Before we left, the boy wanted to make sure we took a few pictures of the mosaic in Strawberry Fields. One of his best friends is a self proclaimed Beatles freak.

I miss it already.
