Friday Ramblings

1.  I made more of these.  A fellow that works with my hubby is having his first baby, a boy, in just a few weeks.  They are pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself, and it only took me about 15 minutes to complete.

2.  I was poking around Google Analytics the other day to see where all of you readers are coming from.  To my surprise, the #1 keyword search for my blog is, "shoutingforha toaster."  A variety of crafty-themed posts occupied spots 2-4, with "I hate cats" rounding out the top 5.

Apparently, my posts about my hubby's killer deal on a Dualit 4 Slice Chrome Toaster and Bubbles the demon cat are precisely what the blog reading world has been yearning for.  Go figure.

Either you people really love toast and hate cats, or you love hearing about a good bargain and hate cats.

3.  I replaced the drip pans on my cook top and have been shocked by noticeable temperature increase from the burners.  I guess the nice shiny chrome does a better job reflecting the heat than the spattered and discolored old set.

If there was ever any doubt, that last paragraph confirms that I am a total dork.

4.  After a brief break, my book club is back in full swing.  Our book selections last year left a little something to be desired.  Don't get me wrong, we read some really wonderful things.  The problem was that the books I hated far outnumbered the ones that I liked.

That's why I'm so excited about the first three books that we have selected for this year.  I just started reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese.  I picked up the book on Tuesday and promptly devoured the first 100 pages.  I can't put it down.

Our next two books will be Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.  I have heard so many rave reviews about each that I am having a hard time resisting the urge to get started.  Such is the life of a bookworm.

What about you?  Are you reading anything that is especially wonderful?

At this point, reading street signs is the only delight I get to enjoy...between that and the giant packet the school sends home in the Friday folders, I'm all tapped out. Maybe when the little people grow up...

I'm home sick, so I haven't done much besides read and sleep the last 2 days - just read Anna Quindlen's Every Last One, which was fantastic. I was enthralled with Cutting for Stone too. Good reading ahead this year.
