How to Organize Your Kids T-Shirts

Imagine, if you will, a scenario that is played out in millions of homes each and every day...

You ask your darling child to get dressed and minutes later he/she appears clothed and ready for the day.  You are delighted by their swift obedience but upon further examination you find this...

The neatly stacked piles of shirts that once filled the dresser are gone.  A mountain of balled up clothes now lies in their place.  What is a mother to do?

If you're like me, you will start by having your child refold all of the shirts and place them neatly back in the drawer.  While this will give you a slight sense of satisfaction, you will know in your heart that the same thing is going to happen again tomorrow.  Or, you can try this little trick that I stumbled upon quite by accident.

After folding all the T-shirts, place them in the drawer fold-side up.  My boy likes to keep his shirts grouped by color.  He frequently selects his t-shirt for the day based on whatever color most closely fits his mood.

Gone are the days of my boy digging through stacks of shirts, unfolding them as he goes.  With the T's loaded in file folder style, the boy can see all of his shirts at once and can easily pluck one from the drawer without disturbing them all.

It's a simple change that really works for us.

Brilliant! I'm going to try this with my shirts. I can never find what I want and I hate how messy everything gets. Thanks for the tip :)
