An Unfortunate First

Warning: The topic of this post is pretty gross. If you have a weak stomach, you might want to skip this one.

Today is the first day of Summer vacation. Hooray! To start things off, my boys decided to go to work together this morning. They had a great time and even got to sneak off for a mid morning breakfast at Noshville. Mmmm... eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes...

Around 12:00 I got a call from my son asking if I could come get him. His Dad had a few meetings and he thought he might like to come home and play for a bit. I was happy to oblige.

After I unlocked our door, my son ran in ahead of me and promptly threw up on the arm of our new sofa. As I hurried towards him, it was apparent that more was on the way. I shouted, "Turn away from the sofa!" just as the next wave came. It landed squarely on the carpet. Thankfully I was able to grab a bowl from the kitchen to catch the third and final wave.

At the first sound of my son getting sick, our disgusting dog, Brick, ran over and started licking up the mess. EEEEWWW! As I herded the dog outside, I noticed that he had a few drops of vomit on his head. Nice.

I quickly deposited the boy in the shower (his lower legs and feet didn't fare so well) and stood in the den for a minute examining the carnage. I have to admit that I was not sure where to begin.

You see, this is a first for me. My son, although he is only seven-years-old, has never thrown up on anything. The few times he has been sick in the past, he has always managed to aim perfectly into the "puke bucket." What a boy!

Thankfully, I came to my senses and grabbed my Little Green Machine and set to work. Removing the smell of bacon from my carpet and sofa proved to be much more difficult than I thought. It took about 6 passes, but I was able to successfully clean up the mess.

When I went to check on my boy, I found him sleeping soundly in his bed. Poor little guy. What a way to start Summer vacation.
