My Morning Ritual

© shoutingforha

I am not a morning person. Never have been. I desperately want to spring out of bed at the crack of dawn, ready to conquer the day. Try as I might, I just can't do it. I want to sleep in until 9:00. Is that too much to ask?

Unfortunately for me, my son has decided to grow old enough to attend school. This tragedy has forced me to rise early each morning to make sure the little guy is fed, clean, clothed and out the door on time. It can be incredibly difficult.

How do I manage? Well, by guzzling coffee, of course. I am hopelessly addicted.

I am not ashamed to admit that I am somewhat of a coffee snob. I don't like to drink that awful Charbucks coffee that everyone loves. My personal preference is a local favorite, Bongo Java, or San Francisco based Peet's.

If you are reading this Peet's people, please build a store here in Nashvegas. Thanks.

Every morning, after I fix the boy's breakfast, I grind some fresh coffee beans and get my french press ready for the water that will soon be boiling in my teapot. It has become a ritual.

I usually drink my coffee in one of the custom-made mugs that my boy has given me. He loves to go to the pottery painting place and "make Mom a new mug." I think it's sweet how he knows me so well.

now you're talkin'

there's no other way to start the day than with a great cup 'o coffee.

if it becomes problematic, maybe the boy will pray and ask God to help you overcome...it worked for me... I've cut down sooo much.
