I joined a book club for almost a year ago. During this time, we have plowed through one or two books each month. Our group makes a point of reading a wide variety of books... fiction, non-fiction, biographies, classics, memoirs, poetry...
I have always loved reading. With addition of my book club, it is not uncommon for me to have two or three books going at the same time. Finishing them has never been a problem.
My struggle is my inability to keep my place marked when I put the book down. I am forever dropping my book, dislodging the marker and losing my place. If I manage to scrounge up a scrap of paper to wedge between the pages, my boy snatches it out just to be funny. I needed a better solution.
I found the pattern for these origami bookmarks here. They are easy to make and almost latch onto the pages, something that was a necessity for me. Here's the instructions:
Begin with a square of 4 x 4 square of paper.

With the decorative side facing out, fold the paper in half to form a triangle.

Repeat with the left corner.

Unfold the paper.

Grabbing the top layer of the upper point, fold it down until it meets with the bottom edge of the triangle. Crease well.

Slightly open the "pocket" that has been formed and tuck the right point into the center of the pocket.

Repeat with the left corner, making sure that all edges are creased well.

Tuck the completed bookmark over the corner of the page.

My boy liked them so much he asked for a few to use with his books.
