As Heard Tonight, vol. 11
Have you had the pleasure of viewing the Planet Earth series on the Discovery Channel? If not, you have definitely been missing out.
The series, which is narrated by Sigourney Weaver, includes eleven different episodes. Each installment highlights a habitat (forest, seas, desert, caves, ice worlds...) and its native wildlife. The cinematography is incredible.
Our family enjoyed the show when it was on last year. When I heard that the Discovery Channel would be airing it again, I set my DVR to record all eleven segments.
The boy decided to watch the episode entitled Great Plains this afternoon. About halfway through the program he started laughing hysterically. Curious, the hubby and I asked him what was so funny.
The boy rewound to the precise spot. As we watched, a herd of what appeared to be wild donkeys were shown running across the plains. Then we heard the cause of his laughter... "Wild ass," Ms. Weaver simply stated.
The boy collapsed into a fit of giggles. As the donkeys continued to prance around on the screen, the boy sprung off the sofa and began strutting around like a donkey, tush in the air. "Look! I've got a wild ass!" he shouted.
After the hubby and I quick snickering, we reminded the boy that he should refrain from using unsavory language. I'm sure you believe me when I say that I would never utter those words...
I feel fairly certain that Great Plains is now the boy's favorite episode. He will probably want to watch it every day. And he should.
What could be better than watching a wild ass run across the grass covered plains?

I'm giggling just thinking of your red haired wild ass romping around the house. I'm sure it was just plain delightful to see. I'll laugh about this for days. Thanks :)
