The Battle

I have had a lovely school-free day with my boy. I truly enjoy spending time with him.

We had a massive Nerf gun war, played some video games and messed around with the Star Wars action figures, all before lunch. We also spent a lot of time ch
atting.

The highlight of my day thus far was our light saber battle. It was so much fun.
The boy insisted that we lower his shades so his bedroom would be nice and dark. He wanted to be sure that we could really see that glow of the blades. He promised that it would be "cooler that way."

I played the role of Count Duku, while the boy posed as Obi Wan. For once, I finished our battle without a single bruised knuckle. Thanks to the boys injured finger we took things a little easier today.
While we were playing, we reminisced about some of our previous battles. I reminded him of how I used to make him lay down on the ground after I "sliced" off his legs. As he lay there groaning, I would plunge the light saber into his chest, effectively finishing him off.

One of the boy's favorite things to do during a battle is to ask me to lower my blade so he can pretend to slice my head off. I am always happy to comply. The boy is usually very gentle as he slowly slides the light saber across my neck. Usually.

As we were playing, I reminded him of one not so gentle time. I had lowered my blade as usual, just waiting for the "beheading." The next thing I knew, the boy recoiled his arms and swung his light saber full force at my neck. I yelped in pain.

The boy was immediately horrified. In the heat of the moment he had forgotten that I was defenseless and just let me have it. While I wasn't angry, I did have a massive welt on my neck for over a week.

Ah, memories.

Hmmm...you seemed to have a better school day off then I did. I ran around and did errands, like the dreadful Walmart shopping trip,in the cold and then came home to listen to 3 of my kids fight all day long! UGH! So much for my kid free day...lol! Glad you had fun!
