My boy asked me what the term, "The Missing Link," meant last night. He apparently heard Tarzan refer to himself as such while watching the old black and white television shows during Fabulous Friday.
I explained to the boy that many people don't believe that God created the earth and all it's inhabitants in six days. Some believe in Evolution, which simply stated, means that life grew, changed and matured over time. What started out as tiny organisms, eventually evolved into apes and finally man.
With those words, my boy burst into laughter. Not just a giggle mind you, but a full bodied belly laugh. The child had tears in his eyes.
"That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard," he proclaimed. "I used to be an ape? If anything, it would sound less made up if it was the other way."
Oh, the faith of a child.
