He Smells Like An Irishman

For years, the hubby and I have tried unsuccessfully to convince the boy to practice good hygiene.  Sure, the child would stand in the shower until every drop of hot water was drained from the tank, but would he actually use soap?  No way.  Soap was for losers.

All of that changed when the hubby randomly brought home a bottle of Irish Spring body wash from the store.  The boy loves it.  He happily scrubs himself from head to toe and now likes to look for extra opportunities to freshen up.

I am convinced that this phenomenon has something to do with the boy's red hair and St. Patrick's Day birth.  He looks like an Irishman.  It only makes sense that he would be obsessed with anything that has the word "Irish" in the name.

The boy likes everything about the Irish Spring body wash... the shamrocks on the front of the bottle... the green color of the soap... the strong, clean scent...  But what he loves most of all is the description written on the back of the bottle.

Irish Spring

This here's the classic
freshness of Ireland that gives
you a crisp clean.  Be ready lad,
it's been known to bring out
the lasses.

ORIGINAL

Shower up like a true Irishman
and get fresh and clean
all in one bottle with
Irish Spring Original.

The boy is quick to remind me that he is in no way interested in attracting any lasses; he simply likes the way it smells. I don't really care what has brought on this new hygienic trend.  I'm just happy the child is actually clean.

What about you?  Do you have a favorite soap or body wash?

*** The opinions expressed are my own.  The fine folks at Irish Spring have no clue I exist. I purchased the soap with my own hard-earned cash and have not been compensated in any way for my review.

Perhaps his Irish genes are kicking in? Perhaps he's an Irish poet at heart? Perhaps he just likes the fresh scent? Perhaps he'll gag on it, next week and vow never to wash again? No telling! Just go with it...
