1. I went on a field trip yesterday with 100 fourth graders dressed in Civil War era garb. It was like being spontaneously thrust into an episode of Little House on the Prairie or a scene from Gone With the Wind.
I took tons of pictures and will post them next week. Typing with my finger brace has been much more difficult than I thought it would be and it's really starting to cramp my blogging style. I don't know how I didn't see that one coming...
2. Over the past month, I have noticed that the boy consistently has at least two or three times as much laundry as the hubby or me. It's as if he feels compelled to wear every article of clothing that he owns each and every week.
I would show you proof in the form of a picture of our three freshly washed and folded stacks but the boy would be mortified for you to see his boxer briefs. God forbid you people think we wear underwear like everyone else. It's better if you just assume we are going commando on a daily basis.
I'm considering buying him a washboard and bar of laundry soap. Maybe a little good old fashioned scrubbing will deter his constant wardrobe changes.
3. I have been listening to a pre-release copy of the new Burlap to Cashmere record, and let me tell you, I love it. Oh, the joys of living in Music City and knowing people in The Biz.
The news of their return has been big news in the music circles here in Nashville. This record is their first release since the brutal attack on guitarist Johnny Philippidis in 2005. You can read an interview with his sister done just days after the attack by clicking here.
You can listen to a preview of the record by visiting the band's website or click here to get a free download of one of the songs.
4. I'm pretty sure that I re-broke my finger during a wrestling match with my boy last night. While I realize that this means I will be wearing my brace until forever, it was totally worth it. My boy is growing up so fast and I know that our roughhousing days are numbered.
I blame the medical professionals for this setback. They should realize by now that I am not going to let something like a broken bone slow me down. Why else would it have taken three entire months for my broken toe to heal?
Should I ever suffer another fracture, I'm going to request something like this. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I was going to ask you if you went on the field trip...I bet it was fun! I wish I could of gone...but, I had to work. I can't wait to see the pictures. Zach had a lot of fun at it! :)
Sorry to hear about your finger!! I hope it heals completely fast!!
7YO as well has 3X as much laundry as AD and I. He figured out that if you pull out something to wear but choose not to wear it, it is easier to throw it in the laundry basket than hang it up or fold it and return it to the drawer. Another solution to this problem is to throw said article of clothing under the bed. A great time saving device - for him.
