The Bully... An Update

Did you have a chance to read Tuesday's post about how my son had been mistakenly placed in the same class as a boy that has bullied him for years?  Well, to my surprise there has been a happy turn of events.

My son came home from school yesterday and informed me that "Ralph" had been moved to another class.  Can you believe that?!

Apparently one of the other fifth grade classes was much smaller than all the others (a result of kids moving away over the summer or being enrolled in private school).  Our principal likes to keep the classrooms uniform in size so he did a little shuffling on Thursday afternoon.  For some reason, the man who pointedly told me that my son would be the only one switching teachers, had a change of heart.

I am 100% certain that his decision to move the other boy was done purely as a favor to me.  Maybe the email I sent informing the principal that my son wanted to stay the course had something to do with it, but to be honest, this turn of events has me feeling a little shell shocked.

You see, dear readers, while I have always adored my son's elementary school, I haven't been the biggest fan of our principal.  While I've never had an issue with the man myself, I know dozens of parents who have.  The teachers and staff are all amazing.  The big guy... not so much.

I've shared the big news with some of my friends who also have kiddos up at the school.  Without exception, they have all been shocked by the news.  I've heard the words, "You DO realize this is a miracle," more times than I can count.

All I can say right now is that my family is feeling incredibly thankful.  Not only does my boy get to stay in the same class, he no longer has to worry about being constantly picked on by Ralph.

If this week is any indication, I have a feeling this is going to be an incredible year.

I think your child was just blessed for being willing to face his Goliath with such dignity. Kudos boy, kudos.
