Today was my boy's first half-day of middle school. MIDDLE SCHOOL. Can you believe it?
After a tag-team interrogation, the hubby and I were able to ascertain that he had a great day. The boy was able to meet all his teachers and get a little more familiar with the school. He also came home with a mountain of paperwork that needed to be filled out. Apparently parents are the only ones who get homework on the first day.
Included in the pile was the incredibly informative student handbook. I especially liked this excerpt:
It's a good thing they included the warning about gambling as the boy had grand plans to run a game of Three-Card Monte out of his locker. Detention avoided.
The boy loved being able to switch teachers/classes throughout the day and is especially excited about getting assigned a locker on Monday. If today is any indication, I think he is going to love his time in middle school.
I think the biggest adjustment for us will be getting used to the 7:25 start time. By us, I mean the hubby and me. How two hard-core night owls managed to birth an early riser is a mystery. When the alarm rang at o' dark thirty, I had a hard time dragging myself from the bed. The boy, on the other hand, sprang from his bed like a child on Christmas morning.
I'm going to need more coffee.

Middle school...that is crazy. I don't even want to think about it! I'm glad he had a great day.
I am a night owl and Grant is an early bird, but he has become less of one since we had kids. That is just unfair; I'd love it if he could just pop up with them at 5:30am and let me sleep for two more hours :)
Exciting times for the Ha family.
Happy to hear everything went off without a hitch.
You and boy ha will have a great year!
love ya and miss ya.
Finally we'll be getting up at the same time. Never mind that you're in a later time zone. :) If you'd like, I can ping you in the morning to make sure you're up.
