Our New Craze

We have recently joined the Webkinz phenomenon. I realize that our family is arriving a little late to this party, but we have never been ones to follow the crowd.

Our introduction came after the boy realized that he had a few dollars burning a hole in his pocket. He decided that the best use of his money would be to purchase a Webkinz German Shepherd from our local toy shop. We brought the new dog home, logged onto the website using the secret code attached to said toy, and set up a home in Webkinz World.

The boy enjoys logging in periodically to feed his pet, play a few games, and buy furniture for his pet's home with the KinzCash he wins doing various activities. I have to admit that the website is done surprisingly well . It's safe, fun and even educational. Go figure.

The biggest shock of all has been my hubby's near obsession with a few of the games. He can't get enough Smoothie Moves, Picnic and Pizza Palace. The poor boy is rarely able to play because his Dad is always logged into his account.

Tonight was no exception. The boy and I were working on something in the kitchen when we heard the hubby shouting, "I can't beat level five! THEY won't let me win!" Apparently there is a conspiracy against my hubby. The powers that be can sense when he is playing and thwart all his plans to earn the boy some additional KinzCash.

He's playing now as I write. I wonder if there is a support group that the boy and I could join. Wives and children of Webkinz obsessed hubbys. I think I am going to look into it.
