Turkey Trot

My son ran in the first annual Turkey Trot at his elementary school yesterday. The event was the brain-child of the new PE teacher... the one we are crazy about.

The students each ran seven laps around the school to complete the 5k race. I have to say that I was incredibly impressed. Over 150 kids chose to participate, and boy, were they cruising around the building. Oh, to be young again and actually enjoy sprinting for incredibly long distances...

My job during the race, other than being the obnoxious Mom snapping zillions of photos for the yearbook (yes, my boy's elementary school has a yearbook), was to pass out wristbands. Each time a student would pass the finish line, I would hand them a wristband to help them keep track of the number of laps they had run.

When the race was over, I gave the boy a hug and told him how proud I was. Needless to say, the boy was incredibly proud of himself too. He is already talking about running again next year.

Congrats to my favorite 5K runner!

Event sounds like fun for everyone.

Next on agenda might be a request for a mother/son run-a-thon...are you ready for that?
