In Like a Lion

March roared into Tennessee yesterday bringing with it 2 inches of snow. The boy, who was elated to see the ground covered in white, threw on his winter gear and ran outside before breakfast. He was worried that his chance would pass if he waited too long. His suspicions were right; any evidence of the white stuff was gone by noon.

Such is life here in the south.

The remainder of the day was WINDY, making the already chilly air downright frigid. It reminded me of one of those blustery Colorado days from my childhood. Those living in the Centennial state will know exactly what I'm talking about.

How then, did we spend our afternoon? Like any sensible family would... flying our kite in the freezing wind. At the hubby's suggestion, we bundled up and headed for the park.

The boy picked out this lovely dragon kite several years ago. It is quite heavy and needs a strong wind to sustain it in the air.

Our first few attempts were unsuccessful.

The boy worked really hard to keep the kite up in the air.

Finally, the wind was just right.

I am so glad we decided to venture out despite the chill. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

"Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring.
Up through the atmosphere.
Up where the air is clear.
Oh, let's go fly a kite."

These are word from Mary Poppins Song: Let's Go Fly a Kite...

Sounds like a ton 'o fun!
