California Trip... Part 2

When the hubby and I were planning our trip to California, at the top of our to-do list was taking the boy to Sea World.  We knew that he would absolutely love it.  Seeing the smile on his face made the sky-high ticket price worth it.

By the time we made our way into the park, the Shamu show, "One Ocean," was about to start.  We took our place in the stands and waited for the excitement to begin.  The boy loved watching the massive killer whales jump, flip and splash.

As luck would have it, the dolphin show, "Blue Horizons," started right after the killer whale show ended.  While not as spectacular as the Shamu show, we enjoyed watching the dolphins, pilot whales and sea birds perform.

The rest of our time at Sea World was spent exploring the other exhibits.  Among the boy's favorites were the sharks and penguins.  He is such an animal lover... Sometimes I wonder if he will decide to become a marine biology or veterinarian when he grows up.

Another must-do thing on our trip was a visit to In-N-Out Burger.  We don't have one of the famed burger joints in Nashville, but we had heard so many rave reviews that we knew we wanted to give it a try.  We all ordered cheeseburgers "animal style" (with grilled onions).  The onions combined with the sauce are what make the burger special.  Without it, it would just be another hamburger.

Speaking of food, we stumbled on an amazing taco shop in La Jolla.  If you are even in San Diego, stop by Don Carlos for some authentic Mexican cuisine.  The food was some of the best I've had this side of the border.

One of the boy's favorites eats was MooTime Creamery on Coronado Island.  In my humble opinion, their ice cream is second only to Walrus Ice Cream in my old stomping ground of Ft. Collins, Colorado.

The ice cream was so tasty that we made the drive to Coronado three times during our trip.  After getting a scoop or two of our favorite flavor, the boys and I would enjoy a quiet stroll through the quaint downtown area.

Coronado is also the perfect place to take in the view of downtown San Diego.  It is truly a beautiful city.

Next week, I'll tell you about our drive up the coast to LA.  Until then, have a great weekend!

What a fun vacation ! Thanks for the beautiful pictures. It brings back fond memories for me. I love Coronado. We used to have to take a ferry across the bay to get there. It's just a really beautiful place.
