The Juice Fast

The strawberry, kiwi, carrot, apple juice I had for breakfast.

One thing I haven't told you, dear readers, is that since taking a sixteen-day mega dose of steroids, I have been feeling a little crappy.  Well, maybe not just a little.  To be honest, I've been pretty miserable.

At first I couldn't figure out why I was feeling so bad.  I guess it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that all of that medication can really freak a body out.  Especially someone like me, who rarely takes any medicine at all.  Clearly, I'm not the sharpest axe in the shed.

Once I came to my senses, I decided that I needed to do something to clean out my system.   At my hubby's urging, I settled on a fruit and vegetable juice fast.  I went to the grocery store and loaded up on insane quantities of produce, pulled my juicer out of the cabinet and got to work.

I have been drinking a fruit-based juice for breakfast and then loading up on the veggies for lunch and dinner.  Overall, I have really enjoyed all of the juice, although the Green Machine juice (kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, green apple, and ginger), which is packed with vitamins, can be a bit hard to choke down sometimes.

Today marks two-and-a-half days on the fast and thus far, I am miserable.  My head hurts from a lack of coffee and I have developed a horrible cold, most likely a result from all of the funk leaving my system.  It's not pretty.

Don't worry, I'm not about to throw in the towel.  I know that if I can just push through for a few more days, things will start to improve.  By the time my ten days are up, I should feel like million bucks.  At least that's my hope.

Wish me luck.
