Drip, drip, drip. The rain falls in a steady drizzle. It's rhythmic sound tapping on my rooftop and windows.
The sky is a pale shade of gray. The house is dark except for the dim light coming through the windows. I turn on all the lights inside the house in an effort to push back my desire to crawl back under the covers.
This is not a warm spring rain... The kind that brings new growth and hope for warmer days. This is an icy cold rain... The kind that longs to fall as white fluffy flakes but instead chills everything it touches.
Instead of allowing the gloom to overtake me, I look for little glimmers of joy. A mug of hot chocolate with a dollop of marshmallow fluff. The twinkling lights on our Christmas tree. A warm meal shared with the family I love.
Suddenly, the world doesn't seem so cold.
