At bedtime last night, the boy was telling me about an article he read at school in the latest issue of Time For Kids. It was talking about the world's population and how quickly our numbers are increasing.
He decided to demonstrate by counting in a steady rhythm. One... two... three... four... Every once in a while he would speed up before returning to the same slow beat. Five, six... seven... eight...
Me: Why do you keep speeding up?
The boy: Every time I count faster, that's means someone just gave birth to doublets or triplets.
Me: Doublets? Don't you mean twins, like your Aunt S. and me?
The boy: Oh, yeah. Twins. I forgot.
With that, we dissolved into a fit of laughter.
Doublets. They're the new twins.

Awwww. Look at the doublets in their matching robes. Are you the one with the Minnie slippers?
@gretchen from lifenutActually, that's my sister. I'm the one wearing the sweet Lady & the Tramp slippers.
So if you're just one half of a set of twins - a twin - what is the singular of doublets? I must be getting really old. All of this new jargon makes me confused :) I did have a good laugh however!
