A little while back, my boy asked if I would interview him for my blog. When I asked what subject he would like to talk about, he replied, "Well, drumming of course. Duh." Silly me.
After further discussion, we decided to compile a list of my boy's top ten favorite drummers. Today, I would like to share the first of what will be two posts. Enjoy!
10. John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
Thoughts: He plays an awesome shuffle groove and his sound is enormous.
Favorite Song: "The Ocean"
9. Eric Singer (KISS)
Thoughts: I really like the way his drums sound. His fills are cool and he doesn't try to play too fancy.
Favorite Song: "Black Diamond"
8. Jeff Porcaro (Toto)
Thoughts: The Rosanna Shuffle is one of the all-time greatest drum beats. It sounds easy but it's really hard to play.
Favorite Song: "Rosanna"
7. Steve Gadd (James Taylor, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, Eric Clapton, Chick Corea, The Bee Gees... basically everyone)
Thoughts: He's just an all-around great drummer.
Favorite Song: I can't decide, but I like this video of him playing with Dave Weckl and Vinnie Colaiuta.
6. Aaron Spears (Usher, Alicia Keys, Chaka Kahn, James Brown, Israel Houghton...)
Thoughts: His beats are really complicated. I think it's cool how he plays his fills over the bar line. I don't usually listen to Hip Hop or R&B, but I really like his drumming.
Favorite Song: "Caught Up"
