My son's school is having their annual Read-a-thon and Sock Hop today. It is one of the many fund raisers for the school. The students sing and dance to the tunes of the 50's, eat a bunch of junk food, and stay at school and read until 5:00. The boy has been looking forward to this day for weeks.

Yes, he can't wait for the sock hop. Yes, he is looking forward to all the tasty snacks. Yes, he is thrilled to get to stay at school until dinner time. All of these things were important, but nothing could compare to his excitement about having "Elvis hair."

This morning I had the awesome task of trying to tame my son's wild red hair. Anyone that knows him would agree... he has an enormous head of hair. After applying gobs of hair putty, I was able to sculpt his hair into a slicked back Elvis do. I then shellacked it with many,many coats of "mega hold" hairspray.

I have to admit he looked really great! The hair went perfectly with his blue jeans, white t-shirt, jean jacket and his blue Kenneth Cole shoes that, by the way, were the perfect substitute for Elvis' famous Blue Suede Shoes. It is going to be a fun day.
