My Election Day Wish

Today, history will be made. Voters will cast their ballots to determine who will hold the highest elected office in the country. By days end, God willing, we with either have the first African American President or the first female Vice President since our nation was founded.

This is exciting stuff.

As the election draws to a close, I have but one wish. I would like to suggest that the members of both parties agree to a truce effective immediately. Nothing could make me happier than three years of getting along, working together, and making good things happen for our country. Three years of peace before the madness starts all over again.

I know it is just wistful thinking, but is that too much to ask?
