Snow Day

Shortly after 9:00 last night, we got the call. School had been canceled. The boy was still awake so the hubby went in to tell him the good news. He fell asleep dreaming of snowballs and sledding with his friends.

I have to admit that I was excited about the possibility of sleeping late. Unfortunately for me, my boy never sleeps in... well, unless it is a school day. Monday through Friday, I practically have to drag the child from his bed. When the weekend arrives (or Christmas, Spring or Summer break) he rises at the crack of dawn. It is horrible.

This morning was no exception. He sprung from his bed at the crack of dawn in a complete panic that the snow would have already melted. It is a rare thing here in Tennessee for snow to survive past lunch time.

Once he realized that everything was still covered under a blanket of white, he frantically began piling on layers of clothing. Minutes later, he was outside jumping on our snow covered trampoline with "his girls" (the three girls that live behind us who are really more like sisters than neighbors).

They just came inside to defrost their fingers and toes. The mountain of wet clothing is now taking a spin in the dryer and they are happily sipping some hot chocolate. It is going to be a good day.
