Before I tell you the sorted tale, I humbly ask your forgiveness for the poor quality of my pictures. For some strange reason, I decided to leave my camera at home and was forced to snap pictures using the crappy camera on my Blackberry. Sigh.
Back to the story...
For the first time in Sir Paul's long and illustrious career, he decided to add a stop in Music City to his latest concert tour. As you might expect, the show sold out almost immediately. The hubby and I had discussed trying to get some tickets, but they were so expensive that we decided to pass.

The hubby called and said, "I am thinking about seeing if I can get some tickets to the McCartney show tonight. How would you feel about taking some cash, heading up to the venue, and seeing if we can snag three decent tickets?" I told him that would be fine.
After he hung up, I told the boy about our pending adventure with the dreaded ticket scalpers. He looked at me like I was crazy.
Unbeknown to me, the hubby decided to check Ticketmaster to see if there happened to be any seats available. He requested three tickets in the "best available" location and was shocked by what popped up. He immediately called to get my approval to fork out the small fortune needed to purchase the tickets.

The boy was so excited, and not for the reason you might expect. Sure, he was happy to see Sir Paul, but the boy's real excitement came because of McCartney's drummer, Abe Laboriel, Jr.. It was Abe's drumming on McCarteny's Back In The U.S. tour (we have the DVD) that first fostered a love for the drums in the little guys heart. The rest, as they say, is history.

As we were waiting for the concert to begin, the hubby glanced to his left. From our vantage point we could see the crew making their final preparations... guitar techs making sure that each instrument was perfectly tuned, the lighting and sound guys making last minute adjustments...
Before I knew what was happening, the hubby was on his feet and shaking hands with one of the members of the crew. As it seems to happen everywhere we go, the hubby knew someone... the in-ear monitor tech for the tour. The last time they had seen each other, our boy was a pudgy one-year-old. They enjoyed a quick chat before the guy had to hurry off to work.
About twenty minutes into the concert, the hubby's friend appeared by our side holding this:

To say that my boy was excited is the understatement of the century. He spent the remainder of the show clutching the stick in his little hands and grinning from ear to ear. The child was the envy of everyone sitting in our vicinity.
At the boy's request, the stick will be placed in a shadow box and hung on the drum room wall. What a great memento of an amazing night.
If you are interested in seeing some video of the show, you can click here and here. Despite my lack of brain function when it came to the camera, the hubby remembered to bring our little Flip camera.
