Godzilla and The Frog

I would like to introduce you to our newest pet. Drum roll, please... Meet Godzilla, the boy's African Dwarf Frog. Godzilla, who had been living on the boy's desk at school, came home from school yesterday in a flimsy plastic cup.

The boy, of course, wanted to drop Godzilla straight into his fish tank. While it would be lovely to have all the water creatures in one container, I am a little hesitant to oblige him. Given our track record with fish, I convinced the boy that the tiny frog would be much happier living in a jar for the time being.

While he is not thrilled about the arrangement, I assured the boy that if Godzilla lives for longer than a few weeks, I might consider upgrading the frog condo to one that is a bit roomier. Who knows, maybe we could even add a plant or two.
Speaking of the fish, we have had our first fish fatality... well, the first fatality of September 2010. When the boy came home from school yesterday, Apollo was dead at the bottom of the tank.

And so it begins...

I was in the boy's room no less than an hour before and saw Apollo happily swimming as I deposited an armful of Nerf darts that I had found while cleaning. I have no clue what transpired in the minutes that followed, but the tank is now short one inhabitant.

Only time will tell when the carnage will end, but if history is any indication, The Chain Gang better start planning their escape.
P. S. The boy has informed me that he will be bringing a Fiddler Crab, a.k.a. Mr. Kool, home from school this afternoon. It's turning into a regular zoo around here.

So sorry about Apollo the fish's surprising demise. That's too bad.

Zach will be bringing home a frog or two...yipee. Given our track record, the frog(s) better start a plan to escape at school before he brings his home! :)
