The tanks two remaining residents, A Black Skirt Tetra, Solo, and his algae eating friend, Sludge, have proven to be quite reclusive. They have spent the better part of the year hiding behind a rather large piece of driftwood that sat in the middle of the tank. To the untrained eye, the aquarium looked completely empty.
Well, all that changed two weeks ago. The fish tank had become so filthy that I could no longer ignore it. After giving everything a proper scrubbing and doing a little rearranging, I knew that I had run out of excuses. It was time to keep my year-old promise and buy my child some more fish.
We went to the pet store one afternoon last week. After a little deliberation, the boy made his selections. The tank's inhabitants now include (drum roll, please):
Solo
The ever illusive, Sludge
Apollo
Spot
X-ray
And five Zebra-stripe Tetras, better known as The Chain Gang.
You will have to excuse the quality of my pictures. Have you ever tried to take photos of a bunch of darting fish? Most of my shots looked like a series of streaks and smears.
Gone is the lifeless tub of water that once took up space on my boy's desk. In it's place is an aquarium that is literally teeming with life. Even Solo has decided to come out of seclusion and join the party. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am so glad that I finally broke down and replaced the boy's fish. Now, if I can just manage to keep the darn thing cleaned...

Fun addition to Boy Ha's tank. Clever & interesting names. Love the chain gang clan.
